South Korea’s cumulative new energy vehicle registrations exceed 1.5 million

October, a total of 1.515 million new energy vehicles have been registered in South Korea, and the proportion of new energy vehicles in the total number of registered vehicles (25.402 million) has risen to 5.96%.

Specifically, among the new energy vehicles in South Korea, the number of registrations of hybrid vehicles is the highest, reaching 1.121 million, and the registrations of electric vehicles and hydrogen energy vehicles are 365,000 and 27,000, respectively. These three models accounted for 4.42%, 1.44% and 0.11% of the total registered vehicles respectively.

In addition, data shows that the export volume of South Korea’s new energy vehicles reached 52,000 in October, a year-on-year increase of 36.1%; the export value of new energy vehicles reached US$1.45 billion, a year-on-year increase of 27.1%. This is also the second-highest monthly sales record over the years. In the first 10 months of this year, the cumulative export of South Korea’s new energy vehicles reached 448,000, which has exceeded the level of 405,000 for the whole of last year. Exports also exceeded the US$1 billion mark for 14 consecutive months, accounting for 29.4%.
