Wheel hub motor mass production! Schaeffler will deliver to the first batch of customers in the world!

PR Newswire: With the accelerated development of the electrification process, Schaeffler is rapidly advancing the mass production process of the wheel hub drive system. This year, at least three municipal vehicle manufacturers will use Schaeffler in-wheel motor products in their series-produced models in the coming months. Road sweepers, vans and snowplows from these manufacturers will be fully electric, resulting in zero local emissions and helping to improve air quality in urban areas.

Madis Zink, CEO of the Schaeffler Group Automotive Technology Division, said: “With the innovative wheel hub drive system, Schaeffler has provided an innovative solution for small and light electric utility vehicles in cities. The main feature of the Fleur hub motor is that the system integrates all the components required for driving and braking into the rim rather than being placed or mounted on the transaxle.”

This compact structure not only saves space, but also makes the vehicle more flexible and easier to maneuver in the city. The in-wheel motor is driven by pure electricity with low noise, and the urban multi-purpose vehicle adopting this technology runs very quietly, which reduces the noise pollution in pedestrian areas and city streets, because the disturbance to residents is very small, and also prolongs the operation in residential areas time.
