Not surprisingly, new energy passenger vehicles fell sharply in April .

In April, the wholesale sales of new energy passenger vehicles reached 280,000 units, a year-on-year increase of 50.1% and a month-on-month decrease of 38.5%; the retail sales of new energy passenger vehicles reached 282,000 units, a year-on-year increase of 78.4% , down 36.5% month-on-month.

Cumulatively, from January to April, 1.469 million new energy passenger vehicles were wholesaled, a year-on-year increase of 119.0%; retail sales were 1.352 million, a year-on-year increase of 128.4%.

Cui Dongshu, secretary general of the Passenger Federation, believes that the impact of the Shanghai epidemic on the vehicle industry is very obvious. “There is a shortage of imported parts, and domestic suppliers of parts and components in the Yangtze River Delta region are unable to supply in time, and some even completely stop work and operations. In addition, problems such as reduced logistics efficiency and uncontrollable transportation time have led to a sharp decline in April. .”

In particular, Tesla’s Shanghai factory, affected by factors such as shutdowns, exports and poor sales, only sold 1,512 vehicles in April, with zero exports.

New energy penetration rate hits record high

From April data, the wholesale volume of pure electric models was 214,000, a year-on-year increase of 39.9% and a month-on-month decline of 42.3%; the wholesale of plug-in hybrid models was 66,000, a year-on-year increase of 96.8% , the chain fell 22%.

This is mainly because the main sales volume of plug-in hybrid models comes from BYD, and its main production position is not in the Yangtze River Delta region, so it is less affected.

Although the overall production and sales have fallen sharply, the penetration rate has reached a new high. The wholesale penetration rate of new energy vehicle manufacturers in April was 29.6%, an increase of 18 percentage points from 11.2% in the same period; the domestic retail penetration rate was 27.1%, an increase from 9.8% in April 2021 17.3 percentage points.

In April, the sales of B-segment electric vehicle models suffered the largest loss, down 29% year-on-year and 73% month-on-month, accounting for 14% of the pure electric share. The “dumbbell-shaped” structure of the pure electric market has been improved. Among them, the wholesale sales of A00 grades were 78,000 units, down 34% from the previous month, accounting for 37% of the pure electric vehicle market; A0 grade wholesale sales of 44,000 units, in The pure electric market accounted for 20%; A-class electric vehicles accounted for 27% of the pure electric market.
